The design features a woman in a flowing nightdress carrying a single lit candle through a grove of bare gothic trees, moths drawn out of the darkness toward her flame, with the quote lettered in antique gold above and below her.
Stoker gave Mina the sharpest mind in the novel — she is the one who gathers the scattered letters and diaries and finds the pattern no one else can see, and Van Helsing is the one who says it out loud. More than a century on, the line has outlived the vampire that surrounds it, and it still belongs to the woman someone else was lucky to have in the dark.
